A new program of software company Microsoft is to define the emotions photographed people within seconds. This works only partially well – with photos Hessian celebrity the results are sometimes strange.

The December 23, 2013 was a historic day for Hesse and throughout Germany. As Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) and Tarek Al-Wazir (Green) signed the first coalition agreement a black-green government in a tract of land, ostensibly prevailed especially joy and a bit of positive tension. What then but still no one knew: In the elation on the sparsely covered coalition board mingled also sadness and contempt

The “scientific” audit revealed: CDU-man Bouffier was sad to two percent at the thought of having to share the government with the Bank henceforth forever nagging countryside. Aircraft noise here, since education policy – at the thought of endless discussions with the former chief critic Al-Wazir Bouffier crept even an eight percent contempt. Not quite as uncomfortable his new partner felt. Al-Wazir was his contempt for the country sheriff after all chokes to a minimum, more than joy aroused the new marriage of convenience with the CDU with him but one thing in particular:. Indifference in 79-percent level

Do not believe?

Then please do not complain to hessenschau.de! The reproduced above assessment comes from a new program of the software giant Microsoft, which bears the name “Emotion Recognition” (“emotion recognition”). The software currently being tested for free from any network in are .

Microsoft advertises that the software recognize the feelings of people in photos within a few seconds and may represent. The recognition was however “experimentally and not always true,” the company restricts itself. Can therefore be good that there was no negative vibrations between Bouffier and his deputy Al-Wazir during the signing of the coalition agreement

Hessen in check. Pretty much indifference

It is certain only one thing: The “Emotion Recognition”, in addition to voice, written and face recognition is one of the hobbies of Microsoft’s cloud service Project Oxford, is a fun gimmick. She draws her conclusions to the emotional condition, inter alia, of the eyes, eyebrows and facial features of the photographed. She is often times true, but proves in other cases, a remarkable degree of lack of imagination, as the following check some Hessian celebrity reveals.

anger, contempt, disgust, fear, happiness, indifference, sadness and surprise: These are the parameters in which Microsoft’s artificial intelligence measures emotional worlds. Apparently this despair is missing. Anders can not explain why the weeping former SPD leading candidate Andrea Ypsilanti at the state party in Darmstadt besides the obvious sadness (41 per cent) also attests to get a 45 percent indifference in this snapshot from the spring of 2009. Shortly before her government’s plans had failed in the regional elections.

The same applies to this photo of Hesse’s best tennis player Andrea Petkovic. The Darmstädterin let October 2014 after a defeat in Luxembourg their emotions run wild. The pure grief? Forget it! According to Microsoft Petkovic takes the whole thing very calmly out (70 percent). So, so …

Rather, take the immobility this man from Alexander Meier, “football god” in the service of Eintracht Frankfurt is hardly known as an emotional volcano. At the award ceremony the top scorer after the Bundesliga season 2014/15 is in fact Meier was not carried away cheers arias. More sadness (14 per cent) than pleasure (2 percent)? In fact, it looks a bit like this, as if Meier losheulen same – happiness

How would be technically clean, located Meier may like abschauen at two Hessian originals: Lia Wöhr as hostess and Heinz Schenk as a host at the legendary Blue Boar of HR television show namely loud emotion recognition in perfection : joy and happiness move accordingly at Wöhr and Schenk near 100 percent. Then a Äppler!

Speaking of international understanding: As it does not work, the famous example of Rudi Völler and Frank Rijkaard during shows the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Bella Italia. Rijkaard spat the Hanauer Bub ‘Völler her hair, both saw red. The reconciliation although there was only years later, but as it sees Microsoft, very little anger and contempt was even then in the game.
