Red Hat Software Collections and updated Developer Toolset – Heise Newsticker



Red Hat brings his collection of Web and developer tools up to date It is all about fresh versions of existing components

The Red Hat Software Collections includes numerous tools for software development and the development of web applications. Version 2.1 now appears half a year after 2.0 and brings especially the individual components up to date.

New components are the reverse proxy cache Varnish 4.0.3, of the client presents itself as a normal server and nginx 1.8.0, the latest stable branch of the free Web server. In addition, the build management tool on Maven 3.0 and server-side JavaScript Node.js platform has been updated to 00:10:40.

The Developer Toolset, which is part of the Software Collections, now carries the version number 4.0. Among the new features of the update of Eclipse belongs to version 4.5. The GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) has the number 5.2 and the corresponding GNU Project Debugger (GDB) 7.1. The other tools have received minor updates.

A source-to-image package (S2I) is running Red Hat Software Collections 2.1 shipped. The tool comes to build reproducible Container Images used. It supports incremental builds that take over existing dependencies and artifacts. S2I is no proprietary software collection, but is for use with the container Images of software collections supplied. (RME)
