Tesla drivers should be – never worry again that – at least in the US of its electric car battery makes on open track limp

The electric car manufacturer Tesla has adopted a problem that may employ as few drivers of these vehicles. The worry, the battery could go make limp , Tesla provides its cars in the series Model S now with a software update via the Internet, through which the client is guaranteed not to be left without juice.

The new function “Range Assurance” working in the background, even if the Navigation system shall not in use. They communicate with the charging stations Tesla’s Supercharger and determine whether they are being heavily used or whether they are active or not. The driver will then warned in time, before he be out of reach of the next available charging station devices.

The navigation system then the path to the next available station. It also special burdens on the battery as gradients and weather conditions are taken into account. The driver must therefore not automatically think of his battery or make complex calculations.

The software update also worry that the charging station network will be included in longer route planning. After a journey of up to four hours already held most of the drivers at a rest stop. The charging time at Supercharger amounts to up to half an hour – as long as the visit to a rest area usually would last. Tesla estimates the range on a single charge for up to 500 kilometers. As good as all the inhabitants of North America, North America and Western Europe lived within reach of a charging station.

In addition to this update contains security features such as an automatic emergency brake and side collision warning. Future Tesla models are expected to decline even more work for the driver. In October, the company announced work on a system called autopilot. There is, for example, recognize traffic signs and speed can adjust automatically.
