Even longer in beta, now available for all: Valve has released for iOS and Android smartphones with its Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator. This allows the games library protect particularly safe from unauthorized access.
Valve is now offering a two-factor authentication for access to the Games portal at Steam. These players need to download the Steam app, available for iOS in iTunes, Android at Google Play and the Amazon Store. A version for Windows Phone, there has not, it is also not announced.
The app includes among others the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator, which is linked to the account on the games portal. Once that is set up correctly, the user an always newly generated number code when registering on Steam have to type as an additional security measure. This works similar to the example of Blizzard Authenticator.
Valve has released its Authenticator in beta already a few months ago. On the company’s website is an extensive FAQ that answers the question, what to do in case of loss of the smartphone. (Ps)
