A common fund from China wants to buy the Norwegian operator

Oslo the operator of the Internet browser Opera, the Norwegian company Opera software, has received an offer of the Chinese investment fund Golden Brick Silk Road. The Fund had offered 10.5 billion kroner (1.2 billion euros), said Opera Software on Wednesday in Oslo. The Supervisory Board has accepted the offer unanimously.

The offer of 71 crowns per share lie 56 percent above the average price over the past 30 days, it was said. Major shareholders who held approximately 33 percent of the shares have already accepted the offer.

Opera Software had made no secret of his search for a buyer. On Friday the trading had been suspended with Opera’s shares on the Oslo Stock Exchange with a view to an upcoming release.

Opera is the world’s fifth most used browser after Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple’s Safari.
