Free Software Foundation Europe seeks financial support – Heise Newsticker

The! FSFE wants to next year increasingly committed to ensuring that publicly funded software must be published as “free software”. For these and other activities the organization collects money now.

The Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) tries to end of January 140,000 euros to raise donations. The organization, which has “the promotion of free software and the work for freedom in an evolving digital society” prescribed wants to finance with the money the activities of next year. FSFE collects the money through sustaining memberships or corporate donations, have come together over the already 60,000 euros of the total.

In the next year, the FSFE will strongly committed to ensuring that publicly funded software are released as “free software” got to; Further, should it be advertised, that all have the right to experiment with their own hardware and software. The FSFE is a sister organization of the American FSF (Free Software Foundation); this maintains the GNU General Public License (GNU GPL), which use the Linux kernel and a number of other well-known open source programs as a sales and use license.
