Software decodes: Hacker cracks Diesel – Wolfsburg General

Felix Domke said on Sunday at the Chaos Communication Congress, he has decompiled the code of the software for it after the announcement of the exhaust scandal at Volkswagen in his own car.

Then he studied the instructions for delivering a solution that is designed to reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides. In the test, the engine show good results in reduction of pollutant. With longer travel time and higher speeds but the delivery of the solution with the brand name AdBlue will almost reduced to zero.

Domke said, probably should with this set by the software behavior period be extended until the next replenishment of AdBlue. But It’ll result in increased emissions of nitrogen oxides.
