Zwickau. Internet users who are dependent with the purchase of the new Microsoft operating system Windows 10 on the integrated browser “Edge” have the geographic information system of the city of Zwickau, which also contains the interactive map, still bad cards. Even five months after its launch, it is the seller CAIGOS not succeeded in making software and browser compatible. Since August is to be read on the home page, that “Edge” and “Zwickau GIS” is not tolerated and thus the map along with all of its functions at least over these browsers for users is not available.
Despite repeated contrary information was the company that was obliged as a service provider by the data processing of the town of Zwickau, hitherto not solve the problem. According to information from the city administration completion dates have been announced repeatedly, has been complied with so far not one of them. In mid-December then finally moved CAIGOS with the truth out: It must be installed a completely new software version. So far, the resident of the Saarland Kirkel company had continued to state that the previous version can continue to be used with some modifications.
Since both the installation and the required tests are very complex, the data processing can present a concrete date call for commissioning. Only one thing can there be said with certainty: The new version is not ready before mid-January. From software vendors CAIGOS there was a corresponding request, no answer.
The Department of Data Processing of the City Council indicates that the interactive map of Zwickau and Windows 10 with the known Internet Explorer and other browsers like Firefox or Opera start without any problems and can be exploited with all its functions. The two latter can be downloaded for free on the Internet and are fully ready for use after a few minutes.
The Internet Explorer is still on Windows 10 preinstalled. However, the Start menu is hiding something, and it must be sought only under the various partly filled with Apps and finally made ready to go.
